On May 23, 2019, the NBAF presents “Talkin’ All That Jazz”, an exploration of the jazz funk classics that al chemically became the foundation of 1980’s (and beyond) hip hop/R&B music introducing one of the most socially innovative eras of Black culture as depicted in our 2012 award-winning documentary, FunkJazz Kafé: Diary Of A Decade”! The event will take place at City Winery in Ponce City Market and will be host by WCLK’s Jamal Ahmad and FunkJazz Kafé creator, Jason Orr! This event is almost sold out so be sure to be in the house!
Here are a few videos that give you an idea of the great jazz samples that became hits in hip hop! These are also a few will be musically interpreted.
